FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College junior forward
Tonya Wright has been named to the 2009 VaSID College Division Women's Basketball All-State first team as selected by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association.
Wright averaged 14.1 points and 7.9 rebounds for the Panthers this season, both team-highs. She helped lead Ferrum to an 18-9 finish, including a 13-5 mark in the USA South Athletic Conference. Ferrum reached the conference tournament semifinals this year.

Christopher Newport University's Chelsie Schweers and Carolyn Hunter earned Player and Coach of the Year honors, respectively. For Schweers, it was her second consecutive Player of the Year award. Meghan Ingram, of Washington and Lee University, earned Rookie of the Year honors.
Wright was an All-Conference first team selection this year. In 2007, her rookie campaign, Wright earned All-Conference honorable mention and was the USA South Rookie of the Year. That year, she helped lead the Panthers to the USA South regular season title.
Wright is averaging 11.4 points over her three-year career, as well as 6.5 rebounds per game. She has 920 career points and will likely become the College's 14th member of the 1000-Point Club during her upcoming senior year.
