NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Top-ranked Christopher Newport University proved to be too much for Ferrum College, pounding the Panthers 7-0 in USA South men's soccer tonight at CNU.

Danny Franklin had a pair of goals to lead the Captains, while Winston Mattheisen had a goal and two assists.  Jack Cooper had a goal and an assist.  CNU (12-0, 2-0 USA South) out-shot Ferrum 32-7 and closed with an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Ferrum (2-8-2, 0-1-1 USA South) returns to action Saturday, Oct. 16, at North Carolina Wesleyan College.  The USA South contest gets underway at 2:30 p.m. in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
