FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Ferrum College dropped an 8-7 USA South baseball game at Methodist University this afternoon.  The game was the first of a two-game series which resumes tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Justin Franklin went 2-3 with a three-run homer in the 8th inning and scored three runs.  Caleb Dorton, Michael Nolte and Sammy Holloway each had two base hits.  Starter Brian Bowles absorbed the loss, pitching 4.1 innings, and allowing nine hits and six earned runs for Ferrum (11-5, 3-2 USA South).

Mike Quick went 4-5 for the Monarchs with a two runs and two RBI.  Trey Such went 3-5 with a home run, a run and two RBI.  Brian Halpin also homered for Methodist (14-7, 3-2 USA South).

Jordan Landon got the win, pitching the first 6.1 innings.  He allowed eight hits and four earned runs, while striking out seven  Rusty White got the save, pitching the final 1.1 innings.
