ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Greg Viggiani belted a walk-off grand slam home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give North Carolina Wesleyan College a 9-5 USA South baseball win over Ferrum College this afternoon.

Jason Butterworth went 2-4 with a double, a run and an RBI for Ferrum (16-7, 5-4 USA South).

Brian Mays went eight innings on the mound, allowing five hits and five earned runs, while striking out five. Brian Bowles that was credited with the loss after allowing the walk-off homer in the ninth.

Max Bowles pitched the first eight innings of the game for the Bishops (14-15, 6-3 USA South), striking out 10 batters.

Ferrum and N.C. Wesleyan will play the second game of the USA South series Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bauer Field.
