Ryan Easterly drilled a two-RBI double in the top of the ninth inning, then scored on a sacrifice fly to lift Ferrum College to a 7-4 win over Roanoke College in non-conference baseball action this afternoon on the road.
The win avenges last week's 10-8 home loss to the Maroons.
Caleb Dorton and
Jason Parker had a pair of base hits for Ferrum. Parker went 2-4 with a double and two runs. Dorton went 2-5 and drove in a pair of runs.
Chris Madison got the win for Ferrum, pitching two innings in relief, while Josh Chocklette earned the save after closing out the game.
Roanoke got two hits each from Dalton Lipes, Jeremy Seipp and Jacob Clifton. Mark Manthe solo-homered in the first inning for the Maroons (2-1). Manthe was credited with the loss, pitching the final two innings and allowing a hit and three runs.
Ferrum (4-1) is back in action Saturday, Feb. 19, at home against Southern Virginia University. The non-conference doubleheader gets underway at 1 p.m. at Panther Field.
