FERRUM, Va. -- Roanoke College jumped out to a 4-2 lead after three innings and held on for a 10-8 non-conference baseball win over Ferrum College this afternoon at Panther Field.
In the top of the third inning, Roanoke's Jacob Clifton doubled to left field, driving in a pair of runs, then scored when Robbie Scott's single was bobbled in center field. Clifton, Scott and Zack Connor each had a pair of base hits for Roanoke (1-0).
Mark Wimmer earned the win for Roanoke, throwing three innings in relief and allowing four hits, four runs and a pair of walks, while striking out two.

Sammy Holloway had two hits each for Ferrum (1-1). Starter
Brandon West absorbed the loss for the Panthers. West pitched 2.2 innings, allowing four runs and three walks, and striking out two.
Ferrum returns to action Sunday, Feb. 13, at home against Eastern Mennonite University. The non-conference doubleheader gets underway at 2 p.m. at Panther Field.
