Baseball Splits with Methodist

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College won the nightcap to split a USA South baseball doubleheader with Methodist University this afternoon at Panther Field.  The Monarchs won the opener 4-3, only to see Ferrum win 12-4 in the second game.

In the first game, Caleb Dorton went 3-4, and Paul Jaglowski went 2-5.  Reliefer Morgan Boles got the loss, pitching three innings and allowing a run each in the seventh and eighth innings. 

Starter Chris Walker scattered six hits and three earned runs over seven innings to get the win in game two, recording six strikeouts. Sammy Holloway went 3-5 with three runs and drove in two runs.  Caleb Dorton combined in the two games to go 5-7 with two doubles and a pair of runs.

Methodist (18-10, 2-6 USA South) got three hits each on the day from Brandon Thigpen and Tyler Young.

Ferrum (12-14, 1-7 USA South) returns to action Tuesday, March 29, at Emory & Henry College.  The non-conference game gets underway at 3 p.m. in Emory, Virginia.
