ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The Ferrum College men's basketball team dropped its final regular-season game this afternoon to North Carolina Wesleyan College, falling 82-60 in a USA South game.
The Bishops led 35-27 at halftime, then used a 15-7 run to open the second half and take a 50-34 lead at 15:07. N.C. Wesleyan then used a 21-11 run to widen its lead to 71-45 with 6:32 showing on the clock.
Marcus Mayo led Ferrum with 13 points, going 8-10 from the free-throw line.
Shon Goode had 12 points and
Nick English had 10.
Lamont King added eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Domarius Thomas led the Bishops (14-10, 8-4 USA South) with 22 points on 10-14 shooting. Alex Murray added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Matt Dougherty had 12 points.
Ferrum (13-12, 6-6 USA South) earned the #4 seed in next week's USA South Tournament. The Panthers will host #5 Methodist University in the quarterfinals Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
