Chris Walker pitched a complete nine-inning game as Ferrum College beat North Carolina Wesleyan College this afternoon on the road. It was the USA South opener for both teams.
Chris Walker allowed five hits and one earned run while striking out nine to get the win.
Paul Jaglowski went 4-4 with a run and an RBI, and
Eddie McGrath went 2-3 with a three-run homer in the 2nd inning.
Taryn Hayden went 2-4 for the Panthers (5-1, 1-0 USA South).
Jake Alexander went 2-3 for N.C. Wesleyan (5-5, 0-1 USA South). Kaleb Wessell absorbed the loss, allowing eight hits and four earned runs over six innings.
The two teams play again Saturday at 1 p.m. Coach Darren Hodges and his team will then play five games from Feb. 27 through March 1 during spring break action in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
