HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hunter Lewis earned the win after pitching five scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and going 2-4 at the plate to lead Hampden-Sydney College to an 8-2 non-conference baseball win over Ferrum College this afternoon at Ty Cobb Ballpark.
Hampden-Sydney scored a run in the first inning, struck for five in the fourth inning, then tacked on two more in the seventh frame to build an 8-0 lead. Ferrum scored both runs in the top of the ninth inning.
John Lloyd went 2-4 with a double and a run for the Tigers (3-2).
Matt Reynolds had a double for the Panthers, going 1-4 at the plate.

Jake Perkins earned the loss, allowing eight hits and six runs over four innings.
Dillon Weaver,
Trevor Almond and
Manny Torres all saw time on the mound as well. Perkins and Weaver each struck out two batters.
Ferrum (2-1) returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 19, at home against the University of Maine Presque Isle. The non-conference game gets underway at 5:30 p.m. at Panther Field.
