GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Ferrum College's baseball team opened USA South Athletic Conference play by taking both ends of a league doubleheader from Greensboro College tonight on the road, winning 13-10 and 25-1.
Justin Cox went 3-5 in the opener with a double, three runs and an RBI.
Taylor Davis earned the win, pitching an inning and a third in relief of starter
Jake Perkins.
Cox and
Ty Comer each homered in game two for the Panthers. Comer went 3-6 with five RBI and three runs, and Cox went 2-4 with four RBI and two runs.
Starter
Dillon Weaver got the win in the nightcap, allowing two hits over six innings and striking out seven. Jon Krecicki had two home runs in the opener for Greensboro (1-3, 0-2 USA South), going 3-4 with six RBI.
Ferrum (4-1, 2-0 USA South) will play the third and final game of the series in Greensboro Monday, Feb. 24, at 4:00 p.m. Coach
Ryan Brittle's squad will next host non-conference opponent Hampden-Sydney College Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 5:30 p.m. at Panther Field.
