Hank Parsley went 4-5 with a double and two RBI, and
Justin Cox had a solo homer to help lead Ferrum College to a 10-4 USA South Athletic Conference baseball win this afternoon over Greensboro College.
Cox's homer was a solo shot in Ferrum's first at-bat of the game. Ferrum built a 4-0 lead after three innings, only to see Greensboro score four in the fourth inning to tie the game at 4-4. The Panthers scored three runs in the sixth inning, including two off a Parsley single to take a 7-4 lead, then plated three more in the seventh inning for the final count.
Taryn Hayden went 3-5 with three runs and a pair of RBI.
Six pitchers took the mound this afternoon, including
Sean King, who worked an inning and two thirds in relief to earn the win. King allowed two hits, a walk and no runs, and struck out one. Starter
Adam Duncan worked three and a third innings, allowing one hit, four runs (one earned) and two walks.
Jon Krecicki had a pair of base hits for the Pride (1-4, 0-3 USA South). With the win, Ferrum completes the series sweep, including a 13-10 win and a 25-1 shellacking Sunday. Ferrum (5-1, 3-0 USA South) returns to action Tuesday, Feb. 25, at home against Hampden-Sydney College. Coach
