Senior Day '14 VideoFERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College picked up a 4-3 USA South baseball win over visiting Piedmont College this afternoon at Panther Field. The win was Ferrum's third in as many days over the Lions, and kept the Panthers (23-15, 19-8 USA South) in the hunt for the league title and an NCAA playoff berth.
Taryn Hayden celebrated his final game at Panther Field and his birthday, going 2-3 with a double, a run, an RBI and a sacrifice fly. Hayden,

Justin Cox were recognized prior to the game with a special Senior Day ceremony. All four received a framed print of Panther Field.
Jared Talley pitched an inning and two thirds to earn the win. He allowed no hits, one earned run, one walk and struck out one to pick up his first win. Starter
Javin Metz pitched 6.1 innings, and was followed by
Sean King, who threw two thirds of an inning. Talley was next, then
Dalton Vetter closed out the game and earned his first save.
Breck Davidson and Evan Gresham both recorded a pair of base hits for the Lions. Starting pitcher Chris Goerschel absorbed the loss for Piedmont (22-14, 14-10 USA South), pitching seven innings and allowing six hits, three earned runs and two walks.
