FERRUM, Va. -- When senior
Haley Overstreet scored the game-winning goal in Ferrum College's 4-3 Southern Athletic Association field hockey double-overtime win over Hendrix College tonight at home, she capped a career milestone few athletes ever reach.
Overstreet has now scored goals in three sports at Ferrum since her arrival in August 2014. She scored three goals in two seasons with the women's soccer team in 2014 and 2015, 13 goals with the women's lacrosse team in 2016 and now one goal with the field hockey team.
"This is a really amazing accomplishment that I never expected to achieve," said Overstreet. "I certainly couldn't have done it or gotten this far without the constant support of my teammates and coaches in all three sports. I'm so grateful for every coach and teammate who helped me reach my potential and for pushing me to be a better athlete on and off the field."
Overstreet came to Ferrum from Patrick Henry Community College, where she was an All-Conference goalkeeper for the Patriot women's soccer team. A native of Vinton, Virginia, Overstreet is a 2012 graduate of William Byrd High School, where she played four years each with the Terrier women's basketball and women's soccer teams.
Overstreet will graduate in December with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Human Performance Exercise and Sports Studies with a Coaching minor. She hopes to pursue a career as a college coach or strength & conditioning coordinator. Overstreet is the daughter of Kathy and Chuck Overstreet of Roanoke County.
