Marlins Hold Off Ferrum, Win 3-2 in Field Hockey

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Asian Allen had a goal and two assists to lead Virginia Wesleyan College to a 3-2 non-conference field hockey win over Ferrum College this afternoon at Birdsong Field.

THE BASICS
Destanee Cutler opened scoring with a goal 5:50 into the game off a pass from Haley Overstreet to give Ferrum the early lead. Virginia Wesleyan responded with goals in the 19th, 26th and 60th minutes to build a 3-1 lead. Alicia Jones scored off a pass from Sierra Magdaleno with less than 10 minutes left in regulation to trim the lead to 3-2, but the Marlins held on for the win.
