Sierra Magdaleno's goal with 1:28 left in regulation broke a 1-1 tie and proved to be the game-winner as Ferrum College earned a win in its first-ever Southern Athletic Association field hockey game, 2-1 over University of the South (Sewanee) this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS
Alexandra Madden scored off a pass from
Kasey Sheets in the 24th minute of play to spot Ferrum a 1-0 lead through halftime. Emily Sloan tied it with a goal in the 46th minute for the Tigers, before Magdaleno poked a shot past Sewanee goalkeeper Katya Waters at the 68:32 mark.
Alicia Jones was credited with an assist on Magdaleno's goal.
