FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped a non-conference field hockey game this afternoon at home to Virginia Wesleyan University, falling 4-3 at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS
Taylor Abraszek got Virginia Wesleyan on the board with a goal in the 7th minute of play, but Kiani Mohica equalized that with an unassisted goal at the 10:11 mark. Eli Roberto punched in two goals at 12:30 and 14:53 to put the Marlins on top 3-1. Mohica added a goal at 24:56 and Ferrum trailed 3-2 at the break. Abraszek notched her second goal of the afternoon at 39:38 to widen the lead two 4-2. Destanee Cutler then scored at 57:12 to make it 4-3, but that's all the Panthers would get.

"The Ferrum women played a great game today," said Head Coach Carrie Hanshue Austin. "The effort and will to win were there, but unfortunately we came up just short. We look forward to jumping back into conference play next week."

Austin's team will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 7, at Sewanee: The University of the South. The Southern Athletic Association game is set to begin at noon in Sewanee, Tennessee.
