FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped a non-conference field hockey match at home to Lynchburg College, falling 10-1 at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS
Nikki Simpao three of her four goals in the first half to help the Hornets build a 6-0 lead at the break. Lynchburg lead 9-0 with less than eight minutes remaining in the game when Sierra Magdaleno scored an unassisted goal to break up the shutout.

COACH'S THOUGHTS
"Tonight was a tough match against a really strong Lynchburg team," said Head Coach Carrie Hanshue Austin. "We know that matching up with a team of that caliber is great preparation for conference play and will only make us better. I'm proud of the Ferrum women for playing hard the entire match despite the outcome."

Hanshue Austin's team will be back in action Sunday, Oct. 22, at home against Concordia University (Wisc.). The Southern Athletic Association game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
