FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped a field hockey game tonight at home to visiting Roanoke College, falling 6-2 at W.B. Adams Stadium. The non-conference game was the season-opener for both teams.

THE BASICS
Emily Wooten scored at the 12:00 mark for Roanoke, then Rebecca Schmidt and Julie Van Marken added goals at 17:44 and 34:04, respectively, to give the Maroons a commanding 3-0 lead at the break. Roanoke would go up 6-0 in the second half before Ferrum could get on the scoreboard.
Sierra Magdaleno notched a goal at 50:37 to break up the shutout, then
Kasey Sheets added a goal at 66:58.
