ATLANTA, Ga. -- Parker Mason's three-run homer in the sixth inning led Ferrum College to a 9-4 non-conference baseball win over Oglethorpe University this afternoon at Anderson Field.

THE BASICS
Oglethorpe scored a run in the bottom of the third inning to grab the early lead, but Ferrum got two in the fifth off Josh Greenway's two-RBI single to left field that scored Grey Sherfey and Kyle Anstice.
Making his collegiate debut, Grayson Chitwood sent a solo shot over the right field fence in the sixth inning to make it 3-1 Ferrum. Later in the frame, Tim Ortega and Greenway each had RBI singles, then Mason cleared the bases with a three-run shot over the right field fence to extend the Panther lead to 8-1.
The Stormy Petrels added three runs in the seventh inning to trim the lead to 8-4, then Ferrum's Ozzie Torres crossed the plate on a wild pitch in the ninth to close out scoring.
Starter Will Davis got the win after pitching six innings with nine strikeouts. Jacob Tomlin pitched the final two and two third innings for Ferrum with four strikeouts. Gabe Davenport pitched an inning and two thirds in relief to get the loss for Oglethorpe.
