THE BASICS
Ferrum jumped out to the early lead in this one and never looked back. Grey Sherfey was the first Panther to cross the plate when Darden Eure-Parrish laid down the sacrifice bunt. Kyle Anstice would cap the inning off with a 2-RBI single to left field, scoring Christian Campbell and Isaac Yeaman.

The Panthers would then add to their lead in the third with a Campbell single to left field, bring home Tim Ortega. Montclair State would scratch across a run to cut into the Panther lead in the fourth from a fielder's choice scoring Andrew Ollwerther.

Ferrum would answer right back, exploding with three more runs in the home half of the fourth. Anstice got things started with a solo bomb to right center. Ozzie Torres would bring home two Panthers with a single to left center, bringing Ortega and Josh Greenway across to score. The sticks stayed alive for Ferrum in the fifth, scoring for more runs in the frame. Ortega highlighted the inning with a two-run double off the right field fence, scoring Conner Dopp and Anstice.

Josh Norton kept the Red Hawks close in the sixth, scoring Miles Feaster and and Michael Schweyher with a two-run single to left field. The Panthers and Montclair State each traded runs in the seventh and two runs in the eighth, with Ferrum's two in the eighth coming off of an Isaac Yeaman 2-run blast over the left field fence to put things out of reach. Montclair State scratched across three runs in the ninth, but Brayden Moore came out from the pen to retire the final two Red Hawks and shut the door on the comeback bid.
