BRIDGEWATER, Virginia -- Ferrum College's equestrian team competed Saturday, March 13, at the Bridgewater College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) event held at the Bridgewater Equestrian Center.
THE BASICS
The event was not an official IHSA show due to COVID19, but was run using the IHSA format. This allowed seniors to compete, while also allowing students the opportunity to gain some experience in the collegiate arena.
FERRUM RESULTS
Junior Hattie Rieck was Ferrum's top placer, finishing 2nd in Introductory Equitation on the Flat. Senior Emma Williams placed 5th in Novice Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat.
Sophomore Grace Howell placed 5th in Limit Hunt Seat Equitation Over Fences, while senior Lindsay Koogler was 6th in Limit Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat.
BEHIND THE WHISTLE
"After a full year of not competing this was a much welcomed horse show for us. We are looking forward to two more invitational events this spring. As a coach I'm happy for our seniors to have this time with their team before they graduate." --Head Coach Margaret Cornwell
BACK IN THE SADDLE
Cornwell's team will compete next on Sunday, March 21, at the Washington and Lee University IHSA show. The event will be held at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington.
