FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College's football coaching staff is set to host the annual Hank Norton / Black Hats Golf Tournament Saturday, June 3, at Botetourt Golf and Swim Club in Troutville, Virginia.

The tournament continues a tradition of Black Hats football, honoring longtime Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Hank Norton, who passed away in January of 2019 at the age of 91. Norton closed his 34-year career with a 277-44-11 college coaching record and led the Panthers to four NJCAA national championships in 1965, 1968, 1974 and 1977, as well as a national runner-up finish in 1966.

The Hank Norton / Black Hats Golf Tournament also serves as a fundraiser for the Panther football program and provides an outlet for football alums, family, friends and supporters to share a day of camaraderie and fellowship. Cost to play in the tournament is $100 per player or $400 per team.

Payment for the tournament is cash, check, or credit card only. We will not be accepting payments via PayPal, Venmo, or any type of cash apps.
 
The afternoon opens with lunch at 12:30 p.m. Golfers will be welcomed at 1:15 p.m., followed by a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Awards will be presented following the tournament somewhere around 6-6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in entering a team or joining as an individual should contact Coach Adams immediately at cadams@ferrum.edu by email or (540) 238-9553 by cell.
