2019 VaSID College Division Baseball All-State Team

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's Tim Ortega has been named to the 2019 College Division Baseball All-State Team, as voted upon annually by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.

State Player of the Year honors went to Nick DiNapoli of Christopher Newport University, and his coach John Harvell earned Coach of the Year. Pitcher of the Year went to Nick Roth of Randolph-Macon College, while Rookie of the Year honors went to Garrett Jackson of University of Lynchburg.

Ortega claimed a spot on VaSID's All-State second team after batting.396 this season with with 16 doubles, a triple, seven home runs for Ferrum. A rising senior catcher from Bluffton, South Carolina, Ortega led the Panthers with 43 RBI, and closed the season with a .464 on-base percentage and a .649 slugging percentage.

This is Ortega's first All-State honor. This season he also earned All-Conference first team honors from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, and was a second team All-South Region selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Ortega was also named to the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week once this season on March 14.
