Mann Named ODAC Football Offensive Player of the Week

FERRUM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has announced Football Player of the Week honors, and Ferrum College junior running back Brian Mann has been named Offensive Player of the Week.

Mann rushed 26 times for 240 yards and a pair of toudhdowns in the Panthers' 32-19 ODAC win over Hampden-Sydney College Oct. 27 at home. He also made one reception for seven yards.

On his second touchdown of the day, a 17-yard run, Mann shook off two would-be tacklers before rumbling into the end zone to give Ferrum a 22-14 lead mid-way through the third quarter.

Mann's performance was his sixth 100-plus yard game this season and his fourth 200-plus yard game. Through seven games, he has 1366 yards and 11 touchdowns on 184 rushing attempts, averaging 7.4 yards per carry. Mann has also returned five kickofs this season for 179 yards and a touchdown.

Guilford College linebacker Bryce Smith earned ODAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping the Quakers beat Washington & Lee University 40-3 Oct. 27 at home.

This is Ferrum's second ODAC Offensive Player of the Week award this season. Junior quarterback Zack Clifford earned the honor after leading Ferrum to an 81-0 non-conference win over Greensboro College Sept. 22 at home.

Coach Rob Grande's team will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 3, at Randolph-Macon College. The ODAC game is set to kick off at 1:00 p.m. in Ashland, Virginia.
