2019 Preseason All-America Team

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College record-setting running back Brian Mann has been named a preseason All-American for the 2019 season by

A senior from Pearisburg, Virginia, Mann had been named to the online publication's All-America second team heading into the 2019 season. Mann holds 10 school records, including game, season and career rushing yards.

Mann is Ferrum's first-ever All-American and Academic All-American, earning both at the conclusion of his junior year. Mann was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Div. III Football second team. He was also named to the the 2018 American Football Coaches Association All-America second team.

Mann rushed for 1605 yards and 15 touchdowns a year ago in Ferrum's first season in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, averaging 6.6 yards per carry. He also returned eight kickoffs for 269 yards and another touchdown for the Panthers last season. Mann earned ODAC All-Conference first team and Academic All-Conference, D3football All-Region second team, as well as VaSID All-State and Academic All-State.

Ferrum finished 5-5 last season in Head Coach Rob Grande's third season at the helm of the program. The Panthers were 3-4 in the ODAC and were the only team  in the league to beat eventual champion Randolph-Macon College.

Mann and the Panthers open Saturday, September 14, with a road game against Greensboro College. The non-conference game is set for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at Jamieson Stadium on the campus of Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.
