Panthers Fall in Men's Lacrosse Season Finale

BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped its 2019 men's lacrosse season finale Saturday, April 27, on the road, falling 16-10 to Bridgewater College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play at Jopson Athletic Conference.

Bridgewater jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Jacob Boswell got Ferrum rolling with a pair of goals midway through the first quarter to tie the game. The Eagles scored three more goals before the quarter was finished and held a 5-2 lead heading into the second.

The two teams played evenly at 4-4 in the second quarter, with Boswell and Jack Sheehan finding the back of the next twice each and the first half ending 9-6 in favor of Bridgewater.

Ronald Carney helped Ferrum convert a man-up opportunity less than a minute into the third quarter, scoring off a Cam Steeley pass to make it a 9-7 game. Bridgewater would score three more times to end the third quarter and carry a 12-7 lead into the fourth.

Mackoy Bodmer scored twice for Ferrum to open the fourth, and Sheehan added a goal to trim the lead to 12-10, but that was as close as the Panthers would get. The Eagles closed the game with four unanswered goals for the final count.

Coach Mike Baggetta's team will graduate six seniors in May, while 21 players are eligible to return for the 2020 season.
