Raleigh, N.C. -- Ferrum College came up short on the road in a non-conference matchup against William Peace University, losing 5-1.
William Peace (2-1-1)
It was a tale of two halves in Raleigh. William Peace struck first in the match with a Peter Darden goal in the 29th minute. The Panthers ended the first half on a high note, as Jeffery Calix knotted the game up finding the back of the net right before the halftime whistle with a 25-yard rocket. Pedro Jacuinide was credited for the assist on the goal. The Pacers took control down the stretch in the closing stanza, netting four goals in route to victory. Darden added a second goal in the half and was joined by Ivan Ponce, Kofi Appagyie and Mamadou Diabi on the scoring sheet for the Pacers.
Daniel Golden takes the loss for the Panthers in the net, playing all 90 minutes and recording six saves. For William Peace, it was Jacob Smith taking the win with five saves on the night.
BEHIND THE WHISTLE
"After a big win last night we knew it was going to be hard on the lads. It was 1-1 at half today and we then missed two 1v1 chances and against a good Peace side, it's tough to be successful that way. Mistakes cost us dearly in the end but we have to rebound now and get back at it. The lads have to learn and move each other forward." -- Head Coach Enda Crehan
Coach Crehan's team will be back on the pitch at Penn-Roediger Field Wednesday, September 11th at 4 p.m. They are set to take on the Bison of Bethany College (W.V.).
