CARY, North Carolina -- Ferrum College's men's and women's swimming teams competed at the William Peace University Fall Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23-24, at Triangle Aquatic Center. Ferrum finished fourth of six teams in the women's race, and fourth of five teams in the men's race.

In women's action, Hunter Tharpe turned in second-place performances in the 200 IM, 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke, and finished third in the 200 breaststroke. Katie Shoaf had an impressive day, finishing fourth in four events; 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle. In the 50 freestyle, Shoaf competed with 22 other swimmers.
In the men's event, Taylor Darnell was second in the 500 freestyle and 200 butterfly, and third in the 100 butterfly. Jacob Blaukovitch was third in the 200 breatstroke, and Dom Philpot was fifth of 21 swimmers in the 50 freestyle.

Bisnett's men and women will break for the holidays and return to campus after the new year to prep for their next meet on Saturday, January 11, a dual meet at Virginia Wesleyan University. The ODAC meet is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start in Virginia Beach.
