FERRUM, Va. — The Ferrum College women’s basketball team will host the WBCA “Play 4Kay” Game during the Panthers’ home game next Wednesday, Feb. 15 against Mary Baldwin College. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. inside Swartz Gymnasium.
Ferrum women’s basketball players, coaches and support staff will be wearing pink on game day to promote awareness of a disease that has touched so many lives. A donation table will be set up at the entrance where proceeds will be collected and donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
The mission of the "Play 4Kay" Game, which began in 2007, is to develop a nation of coaches raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
Play 4Kay is named after legendary coach Kay Yow, who fought a courageous and very public battle against breast cancer to build a platform dedicated to improving and extending the lives of cancer patients. After three recurrences of the disease, Coach Yow passed away on January 24, 2009.

However, Coach Bryan Harvey's squad has a crucial battle with Methodist University on Saturday, Feb. 11 before it can focus on the battle with the Fighting Squirrels. The Panthers (18-4, 13-2 USA South) are currently in a first-place tie atop the USA South standings with Christopher Newport University. The USA South doubleheader gets underway at 2 p.m. inside Swartz Gymnasium.
