Panther Women Headed to Kentucky for NCAA Tournament

FERRUM, Va. -- A beautiful day greeted the Ferrum College women's basketball players, coaches and support staff Thursday, March 1, as they boarded a bus this morning at 7:30 a.m.   The Panthers are bound for Danville, Kentucky, where they will make the College's first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in 17 years.

Coach Bryan Harvey's team will play in a regional at Centre College Friday and Saturday, March 2-3.  The panthers face #9 Washington University (St. Loius) Friday at 5 p.m. EST.  The other game between Centre and Guilford College starts Friday at 7 p.m.  The winners of Friday's two games will square off Saturday at 5 p.m. for a spot in the NCAA Sweet 16.

The College will update a web page dedicated to Ferrum's progress throughout the weekend.  The page contains links to live audio, video and stats, an NCAA bracket, the Danville Regional schedule, ticket information and a blog by Ferrum senior Brian Cox. Ferrum's Game Notes

This is Ferrum's second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.  The 1994-95 team won the league tournament, then called the Dixie Conference, and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Roanoke College at home.
