ARLINGTON, Va. -- Ferrum College's women's basketball team dropped a non-conference game this afternoon to The Sage Colleges, falling 74-57 in first-round play at the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament. The tournament is being hosted by Marymount University at Converse Family Fieldhouse.
Sage jumped out to the early 4-0 lead. Ferrum responded with a 6-0 run on a free throw by Jessy Nichols, three-pointer by Arin Bunker and layup by Cameron Hawkins to grab it's only lead of the game.
The Gators responded with a 17-3 run to grab a 21-9 lead. Ferrum closed out the quarter with a 10-5 run to cut it to 26-19 after one. Sage used a 14-10 second quarter to widen the lead to 40-29 at the break.
Ferrum got as close as eight points when Kayla Cabiness drilled a three-pointer at 2:44 of the third quarter to make it a 50-42 game. Sage would go on to build a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter.
Cabiness closed the game with 22 points, hitting five of nine three-point attempts. She was the Panthers' only double-digit scorer.

Harvey's team will play in the consolation Saturday against Haverford College. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
