Kelsey Long joined the Ferrum women's basketball coaching staff in August 2018. Prior to Ferrum, Long was the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at St. Andrews University for two years from 2016-18. Her responsibilities included academic advisor, team travel, day-to-day basketball operations, recruiting visits, film breakdown, and opponents scouting while also serving as the summer basketball camps director.

Long spent two years prior to that at Queens University of Charlotte as an Assistant and worked on her master's in communications while with the Royals. In that capacity, she was responsible for food and travel, video operations, oversaw managers, practice drills and helped with on-campus recruiting visits.

Long completed her Internship at North Carolina State University in the summer of 2013, working with both men's and women's basketball programs. Her summer camp experience includes working with N.C. State, University of Kentucky, UNC Charlotte and the Charlotte Hornets. The past two summers she coached the 19u Girls StudentAthlete World team in the United World Games in Klagenfurt, Austria, where she had the opportunity to coach against teams from Germany, Italy, Austria and Hungry.

A native of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, Long graduated from East Surry High School, where she was a four-year varsity starter, the 2009 Northwest Conference Player of the Year and 2010 District 11 Player of the Year. She was a four-year letter winner and 1,200-point scorer at Belmont Abbey College. During her time as a collegiate student-athlete, Long was a two-time Conference Carolinas All-Conference selection, three-time Conference Carolinas Basketball Academic All-Conference and was introduced into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. She graduated Cum Laude from Belmont Abbey with a degree in Sports Management in 2014 with a double-minor in Business and Psychology.
