Final Results
DANVILLE -- Ferrum College carded a 311 Sunday and totaled 611 to finish fifth in the 2012 VSGA Virginia State Intercollegiate Tournament held Sept. 29-30 at Danville Golf Club.
Host Averett University (585) won the tournament on its home course, finishing 13 strokes better than runner-up Bridgewater College (598). Randolph-Macon College (602) was third, while Hampden-Sydney College (605) and Ferrum rounded out the top five in the 11-team tournament.
Virginia Wesleyan College's John Dozier, the leader after the oepning round, earned medalist honors with his 68-69-137. He finished seven strokes ahead of Averett's Andy Thorne, who carded a 73-71-144. Ferrum's
Scott Obenshain carded a 75-73-148, finishing in a four-way tie for seventh place.
Keegan Howver tied for 21st place with a 74-79-153.
Coach Adam Crawford's team returns to action Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7, at the Ted Keller Memorial Tournament, hosted by Randolph-Macon College at Hunting Hawk Golf Club in Glen Allen, Virginia.
