Final ResultsLYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's tennis team opened the 2014-15 season at the WildCat Fall Invitational held Sunday, Sept. 14 at Randolph College. Six players suited up for the Panthers in the season-opening event.
Rachel Belcher and
Kisainya Miller reached the final at #3 doubles with an 8-2 win over Sweet Briar College's Samantha Yew and Jackie Lockhart. Belcher and Miller would later fall in the title match 8-5 to Jessie Gomes and Kaitlyn Meadows of Averett University.
Kyra Schultz and
Kelsey Nicely went 0-2 on the day at #1 doubles, while Damaris Miranda and Raqual Ramseur went 0-2 in the #2 doubles spot.
Nicely went 1-1 at #2 singles, posting an 8-3 win over Averett University's Morgan Epstein to place third. Earlier in the day, Nicely dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match to Sweet Briar College's Gina Rutledge. Also competing in singles for Ferrum were Schultz at #1, Ramseur at #3, Miranda at #4 and Miller at #5.
Ferrum returns to action Thursday, Oct. 2, in a dual match against Sweet Briar. The non-conference match is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Burrows-Skeens Tennis Complex.
