PEMBROKE, N.C. -- Robert Cunningham (125 lbs.) won both his matches as Ferrum College split a pair of non-conference wrestling dual meets with NCAA Div. II opponents UNC-Pembroke and Long Island Post University this afternoon on the road.

Cunningham posted a 10-2 major decision over UNC-P's Josh Brown to open the first dual. Justin Zimmerman then followed with an 8-3 decision over Cole Murray. A forfeit win by Nick Rodriguez (197) would prove be the Panthers' only points after that.

In the win over LIU, Cunningham beat Tyler Walsh 9-3, Paul Biggs (149) beat Matt Langan 8-4 and Dustin Santmyers (165) beat Ed Ramirez 7-3. Josh Alston (174), wrestling up a weight class, posted a 12-3 major decision over James Sinclair. Long Island Post clung to a 19-13 lead with two matches remaining, but Rodriguez (197) tied the match with a fall over Jake Horton, then Tate Dulany (285) decked James Luison to give Ferrum the win.

The Panthers (8-8) return to action Sunday, Feb. 8, on the road at St. Andrews University. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Coach Nate Yetzer's team will then host Liberty University Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Swartz Gym.
