2017 Virginia Duals

HAMPTON, Va. - #14 Ferrum College fell 27-12 in the title match of the 2017 Virginia Duals to #22 (Div. II) Kutztown University tonight at the Hampton Coliseum. Kutztown earned wins in seven weight classes. Logan Meister earned a first-period fall for the Panthers at 157 pounds. Ferrum earned its spot in the title match with a 30-11 semifinal win over King University earlier in the day.

THE BASICS
Logan Meister (157 lbs) earned a first-period fall for the Panthers in the title match, while Zach Beckner (125) and Hunter Goulart (197) earned decisions. Meister, Beckner and Goulart each went 3-0 through the tournament. Beckner (125) and Blake Rosenbaum earned pins for Ferrum in the semifinal win over King. The runner-up finish is Ferrum's best since the inception of the program four years ago. The Panthers were third in 2014, fifth in 2015 and fifth in 2016.

Coach Nate Yetzer's squad will compete Sunday, Jan. 22, at the Builder Open, hosted by the Apprentice School in Newport News, Virginia. The Panthers won the team title a year ago.
