NWCA National Duals

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's men's and women's wrestling teams are both on the road this weekend competing in the 2017 National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals Championship. Sponsored by the United States Marine Corps and Theraworx, the event is being held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum Thursday and Friday, Jan. 5-6, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The NWCA National Dual Championships is the first for both Ferrum wrestling teams. The Panther men are in the fourth year as a varsity program, all under the leadership of Head Coach Nate Yetzer. Ferrum has a varsity roster of 31 wrestlers and a club roster of 29. The Panther women's program is in its second season, led by first-year Interim Head Coach Ryan Riggs. The women have a roster of 23 wrestlers this season.

Ferrum's men are the #11 seed in the event and were scheduled to wrestle Alma College out of Michigan Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Alma was unable to make the trip so Ferrum advanced to the second round, where it faces Concordia-Moorehead at 11:00 a.m. Ferrum's women are unseeded and face Campbellsville University Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
