GREENSBORO, N.C. -- #12 Ferrum College won nine titles in 10 weight classes to defend its title from a year ago at the Southeast Wrestling Conference Tournament, hosted today by Greensboro College. The Panthers scored 114.5 points to outdistance runner-up Greensboro (60.5 pts).

PANTHER CHAMPS
Zach Beckner (125), Robert Cunningham (133), Austin Smith (141), Collin Saunders (149), Logan Meister (157), Andrew Tolbert (165), Blake Rosenbaum (174), Adam Bresson (184) and Tate Dulany (285) each won titles. Rosenbaum claimed the Most Falls in Least Amount of Time award with three pins in a combined 9:42, and Saunders was named the lower weights Most Outstanding Wrestler.
OTHER PLACEWINNERS
Placing second for Ferrum were Bailey Cooper (125), Antavian Leary (184), Hunter Goulart (197) and Carlos Leyva (285). Robert Ziehfruend (133) and Tyrique Nolen (197) posted third-place finishes, while Logan Armstrong (157), Clifford Harrison (165) and Max Baker (174) each finished fourth.
BACK ON THE MAT
Coach Nate Yetzer's team will host the 2017 NCAA Div. III East Regional Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25. The NCAA-qualifier will be held at Franklin County High School in nearby Rocky Mount, Virginia. The top three in each weight class advance to the NCAA Div. III National Championships, to be held March 10-11 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin.
