
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Ferrum College's equestrian team competed in their last regular IHSA show today at Virginia Tech. The host team won the event with 40 points, followed by Averett University (35) and Emory & Henry College (33). Ferrum finished seventh of 12 teams.

FERRUM HIGHLIGHTS
The Panthers' Walk Trot Equitation riders placed well with
Ireland Sweeney winning her class,
Lauren Weaver finishing second, and
Stephanie Gibbs finishing fifth. Intermediate rider
Skylar Coates placed third over fences and fourth on the flat. Novice riders
Samantha Combs placed fifth in flat and fourth over fences, and
Anna Richardson placed sixth. Walk Trot Canter riders were Jody Jefferies, who placed third,
Emily Bucklew who placed fourth,
Tiyanna Washington who placed second, and Gloria Wood who placed fifth.
NEXT EVENT
Coach Margaret Cornwell's riders will be back in action at the IHSA Regionals, to be held March 18 in Danville, Virginia. Ferrum has five riders who will compete at the event hosted by Averett;
Anna Richardson,
Skylar Coates,
Gabriella Newmiller, Jody Jefferies and
Emily Bucklew.
