HAMPTON, Va. -- #2 seed Ferrum College beat Alderson Broaddus University 34-11 in the opening round of the 2020 Virginia Duals at Hampton Coliseum. Now in its 40th year of existence, the Virginia Duals is one of the oldest college wrestling tournaments in the nation.

THE BASICS
Austin Smith (149), Galilee Kissell (165) and Carlos Leyva (285) wrestled well, each recording a pin for the Panthers. Smith posted a second-period pin, while Kissell and Leyva went to the third period before earning the fall.
Braden Homsey (197) trailed 2-0 after the first period, but rallied with nine points in the second period en route to a 15-3 major decision. Malik Barr (174) looked solid as well, posting a 6-0 shutout win.
Also winning for the Panthers were JD McMillin (125) by decision and Levi Englman (133) by forfeit. Gino Sita (184) picked up a technical fall for Alderson Broaddus. Curtis Cox (141) and Dalton Pearl (157) also earned decisions for the Golden Battlers.
