UPDATED SEASON RESULTS
SALEM, Virginia -- Ferrum College's men's wrestling team competed in three dual meets today at the Star City Classic Presented by the USMC. Roanoke College hosted the event at the Cregger Center indoor track & field center. Additionally, 10 wrestlers competed in an individual tournament as part of the Star City Classic.
THE BASICS
Ferrum opened with a 38-9 loss to NCAA Division II University of Mount Olive, then rebounded with a 35-9 win over Huntingdon College. The Panthers closed the day with a 32-21 loss to NAIA Thomas More College. Against Mount Olive,
Rayshawn Dixon (285 lbs) had an injury default win, while
Trent Proctor (125) scored a decision.
Levi Englman (141) and
Braden Homsey (197) each posted tech falls against Huntingdon, while
Rubyn Semedo (133) had a major decision and Dixon won by decision. Homsey earned a pin against Thomas More's Zachary Watson, Englman earned another tech fall,
Joey Olalde (184) posted a major decision.
In the individual tournament, Ferrum had three placewinners of the 10 wrestlers that competed.
Johnny Black (197) went 2-1 with a pin to place second,
Adrian Samano (125) went 3-2 with a pin and a major decision to earn fourth, while
George Mitchell (285) went 2-2 and finished fourth.
