KNOXVILLE, Tennessee -- Ferrum College split a pair of non-conference women's tennis matches on the road Friday, March 11, at the Johnson University Tennis Courts. Ferrum opened with a 6-2 win over Maryville College, then fell 9-0 to host Johnson.

THE BASICS
In the win over Maryville, the Panthers took a 2-1 lead after doubles, with Megan Scott and Esme Atkinson winning 8-4 over Eliza Cheshire and Abby Smither in the #2 spot. Morgan Hundley and Emma Loughrey picked up a win by forfeit at #3 doubles.
Scott, Madison Wright and Atkinson then each won in singles at the #2, #3 and #4 spots, respectively, while Hundley and Loughrey won by forfeit at #5 and #6 singles.
The host Royals proved to be too strong in the second match, leading 3-0 after doubles then sweeping all six singles matches to complete the shutout. Atkinson and Hundley fought hard before dropping three-set matches at #4 and #5 singles.
