Ferrum Holds Off Guilford for ODAC Win in Season Finale

FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College picked up an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's lacrosse win tonight at home Guilford College, winning 16-8 at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS
Willow Cooper opened up the scoring for Ferrum with a free position shot just over a minute into the game and added a second one just 45 seconds later. Guilford got one back at the 10:38 mark, cutting the lead to 2-1. Reagan Aldridge and Sydney Kincaid added unassisted goals to put the Panthers up 4-1. The Quakers scored with four and a half minutes to play. Cooper scored her third of the game after taking a pass from Bianca Cellitto, to put Ferrum up 5-2 after one quarter of play.

Maggie Hartnett took a pass from Sarah Michelle Boyce and found the back of the net to open up the scoring in the second quarter for Guilford. Erin Reynolds scored from a free posltion shot, putting Ferrum back up by three, 6-3. Cooper scored two more goals to push the lead to 8-3 with 12:34 to play in the half. Hartnett and Michelle each scored to cut the lead to 8-5. Both teams traded goals for a halftime score of 9-6.

Cooper netted a pair of goals for the third quarter's only scoring to make it an 11-6 game heading into the fourth. The Quakers got to within four goals on Hartnett's unassisted man-up goal at 7:17. Cooper would add a goal with 2:54 left to play that gave her eight goals on the day and 67 on the season. Her 67 goals tied the school record for season goals, set in 2012 by standout Courtney Hamm.
