FERRUM, Virginia - The Ferrum College Women's Basketball team lost a heartbreaking defensive battle at home against the Old Dominion Athletic Conference leading Bridgewater Eagles. The Eagles hung on for a 39-36 win.

THE BASICS
Ferrum took the lead at the end of the first quarter on a three pointer by
Aisha Martin. The second quarter saw both teams go back and forth with Ferrum maintaining a one point lead heading into the break.
In the third, Bridgewater took their largest lead of six on a free throw by India Dailey. Ferrum's Martin responded with four straight points to cut the lead to two heading into the fourth. The teams traded leads in the fourth quarter and with the Eagles up five with just a little over a minute left in the game, Freshman
Kleiauna Riddick knocked down a three to cut the Eagles lead to two. Junior
Allyson Cassell then stole the ball for the Panthers. Ferrum had two chances to tie the game at the end but came up short. Forced to foul, Bridgewater made one free throw to seal the win.
Both teams struggled from the field with Ferrum shooting 27.7% and the Eagles shooting 24.5%. The difference in the game came at the charity stripe with the Eagles making 13-17 and Ferrum only making 5 out of 8. Ferrum controlled the boards but lost the turnover battle.
