ELIZABETHTOWN, Pennsylvania -- Ferrum College's wrestling team placed sixth in a field of 12 teams at today's Blue Jay Classic, hosted by Elizabethtown College. Zach Beckner and Rayshawn Dixon earned individual titles for the Panthers.

THE BASICS
Beckner steamrolled through the 125-pound weight class with two pins and a pair of tech falls. He pinned Cortland State's Christian Lievano in the semifinals at 1:50 of his semifinal match, then pinned Cadden Kucek of Wilkes University at 2:49.

Dixon also went 4-0 on the day, including an 11-0 major decision over Kwasery Niewadomy of host Elizabethtown in the semifinals, and a 9-2 win over Wilkes Caleb Burkhart in the title match.

Sam Slate posted a 3-1 mark to finish third at 197 pounds. Cameron Curva went 3-1 at 149 pounds to finish fourth, while Joseph Toner went 2-2 at 184 pounds to place fourth. Deondre Johnson rounded out Ferrum's place-winners, finishing fifth at 285 pounds with a 4-1 mark.
