LYNCHBURG, Virginia -- Ferrum College's women's basketball team lost this evening, 53-42 to Randolph College in the first round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tournament.

THE BASICS
Asya Williams scored the games first points of the game at the 7:13 mar, giving Ferrum a 3-0 lead. With 4:28 left in the first quarter, Kylie Starks 3-pointer gave Randolph a 5-3 lead. The Panthers and WildCats were both unable to score until
Kayleigh Shreffler hit a pair of free throws with 51 seconds remaining in the period. In another low scoring quarter, Randolph took a one point lead into halftime 13-12.
Kayla Cabiness scored five of the teams seven points in the quarter of her game high 21 points.
With 6:05 to play in the third quarter, the WildCats took a seven point lead, 21-14 their largest of the game. Ferrum outscored Randolph 6-3 to pull within four, 24-20 heading into the fourth quarter. Both teams shot under 30 percent from the field during the third period.
Offense shined in the fourth quarter, as both teams scored over 20 points and surpassed their own total points in the fourth. A pari of free throws from
Taryn Blankenship, pulled Ferrum to within four, 32-28 with 4:49 left in the game. The WildCats scored their final eight points from the charity stripe, with two of Starks putting them up by ten with 47 seconds to play.
Cabiness scored the Panthers final nine points of the game, as the senior ended her career scoring mark as third most in program history with 1,604.

The loss closes out Ferrum's 2023-24 season. The ODAC Tournament champion will collect the league's automatic qualifier into the the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championships.
