FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College's men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with today's 8-1 non-conference win over Mary Baldwin University this afternoon at the Burrows-Skeens Tennis Courts.

THE BASICS
Tripoom Jala and
Gabriel Alvarez beat Adrian Reyes and Noah Knick 8-0 at #1 doubles to start things off for Ferrum.
Kevin Nester and
Zach Everson then topped Brandon Kincaid and Brandon Murphy 8-5 at #2 doubles, and the Panthers earned a forfeit win at #3 doubles to take a 3-0 lead into singles.
Alvarez made quick work of Reyes at #1 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Will Davis posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at #2 singles over Knick, and
Austin Brigman followed suit with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kincaid in the #3 spot. The Fighting Squirrels avoided the shutout when Brandon Murphy beat Ferrum's
Ryon Johnson 6-4, 6-4 at #4 singles. The Panthers picked up forfeit wins at #5 and #6 singles to account for the final team score.
