FERRUM, Virginia – Ferrum College women's basketball team dropped a nail biter to Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Averett University 51-49. Both teams got off to a slow start after struggling with turnovers and poor shooting.

THE BASICS
Ferrum held a 20-13 lead at intermission. Averett got hot in the third quarter erupting for 25 points and taking a one point lead after three. In the last period, Ferrum built a seven point lead but Averett was able to chip away at it. Averett sophomore Emma Jones hit a three with 8 seconds remaining to put the Cougars ahead for good.
Freshman
Maslyn Mosbacher led the Panthers with 12 points and graduate student
Aisha Martin knocked in 11. Ferrum had 31 turnovers to the Cougars 25. Ferrum only shot 27.5% for the game and Averett was only slightly better at 30.8% however the Cougars had 14 more attempts.
