FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) wrestling match to visiting Averett University, falling 23-14 tonight at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
#9 ranked Zach Beckner (125 lbs) posted a big win to open the night for Ferrum, upsetting #3 Mason Barrett with a 6-0 shutout Trent Proctor (133) eked out an 8-7 win, then Mauricio Reyes put Averett on the scoreboard with a decision at 141 pounds. Cameron Curva (149) responded with an 11-5 win for Ferrum, earning his 21st win this season and giving Ferrum a 9-3 lead.

Averett erased the deficit by winning five straight to take a 23-9 lead, then held on for the ODAC road win. Xavier Swanson recorded the only pin of the night for the Cougars at 165 pounds. Ferrum's #2 ranked Rayshawn Dixon (285) closed out the dual match with an impressive 18-0 first-period tech fall over Jasiri Dingle.
